Sweett buys Bangkok QS

23 Aug 13 Sweett has acquired Boulter Stewart and is merging the quantity surveying consultancy's operations into its Thailand business with effect from Monday.

Boulter Stewart is based in Bangkok and delivers quantity surveying, contract administration, project financial services, due diligence and dispute resolution services. The company was established in 1997 by Bob Boulter in collaboration with David Stewart, each of whom has over 30 years' experience in construction consultancy work in Thailand, focusing on the industrial, commercial and hotels and leisure sectors.

Over the last five years, Sweett Group's Thailand office and Boulter Stewart have worked together on commissions for clients including Merlin Entertainments, Bank of America and Kingdom Properties.

Sweett Group Asia Pacific managing director Kim Berry said: "By combining the QS expertise and local knowledge of Boulter Stewart with our established Sweett Group Project Management business under South Asia Managing Director Andrew Wigg and Thailand Director Ben Sedgewick, we are creating a diversified and flexible consultancy, specifically targeted at the requirements of our local and international clients operating in the Thai market. This is very much in line with our current business plan which focuses on the twin benefits of coverage across Asian hub cities and service diversification."

Boulter Stewart managing director Bob Boulter said: "Boulter Stewart's collaboration with Sweett Group has been conducted successfully over a number of years with a variety of projects.  The merger of the two organisations is the obvious way forward for us both in Thailand.  We look forward to the benefits of working more closely with Sweett's global business and, locally, with Andrew, Ben and their rapidly expanding team in Bangkok."
