3 Nov 10 Three construction teams have been shortlisted for the redevelopment of Cambridge's Papworth Hospital on a new site.

Three construction teams have been shortlisted for the redevelopment of Cambridge's Papworth Hospital on a new site.

The hospital is to be relocated on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus as part of a £150m privately-financed arrangement.

The three shortlisted consortia are:

  • Apex Health, comprising John Laing Investments, Laing O’Rourke Construction, and Interserve (Facilities Management).
  • Bouygues, comprising Bouygues UK and Ecovert FM.
  • Skanska, comprising Skanska Infrastructure Investment UK, Skanska Construction UK, and Skanska Facilities Services.

The three shortlisted teams will now work with Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to develop interim bid submissions.

These submissions will be evaluated and two of the consortia will be invited to move to the next stage. A contract between the Trust and the preferred bidder is anticipated to be signed in late 2012. The construction phase is expected to be complete by late 2015.

"There has been a great deal of interest from the private sector in this project and we are delighted to be working with three of the most successful consortia in this market," said Stephen Bridge, chief executive of the Trust.
