The Norther offshore wind farm will be located 23km off the Zeebrugge coast and will have a maximum capacity of 370MW. On completion it will deliver renewable energy to 400,000 households.
Van Oord’s work encompasses the engineering, procurement, supply and installation of the 44 foundations, the offshore high voltage station, cabling and turbine installation. For the transport and installation of the foundations and turbines Van Oord intends to deploy its offshore installation vessel Aeolus and cable-laying vessel Nexus.
Construction will start in 2018.
