It has been appointed by Projects Link Contracting to carry out the marine works for the Dubai Harbour.
Dubai Harbour is set to span 185 hectares and will include berths for 1,400 boats as well as a cruise terminal. It is part of Dubai’s strategy to attract 20 million visitors per year by 2020. Execution of the project will take place from September 2017 to May 2019.
Van Oord’s responsibilities will include dredging the 12km navigation channel, reclaiming land and executing vibro compaction. It will be deploying a large trailing suction hopper dredger and a self-propelled cutter suction dredger.
