Virginia allocates $13.3bn for transport projects

18 Jun 15 The Commonwealth Transportation Board in Virginia, USA, has allocated US$13.3bn (£8.5bn) for road, bridge, rail and public transportation improvements.

The board's latest six-year improvement programme will support nearly 3,000 transportation projects to improve the state’s infrastructure.  

The six-year programme breaks down into US$9.9bn for highway construction and US$3.4bn for rail and public transport.

Virginia Department of Transportation's annual budget for the 2016 fiscal year is US$5.29bn, representing a 21% increase from the previous year.
