It has signed a letter of intent for the transaction, which involves Boskalis acquiring maritime activities and those related to offshore wind energy carried out by VBMS, Stemat and VSI (Volker Stevin International).
VolkerWessels said that it expects demand to increase further in the coming years for offshore wind energy both in northwest Europe and beyond. “We feel that our offshore activities are better incorporated into Boskalis,” it said.
VolkerWessels and Boskalis have been working together for years in the offshore wind energy market. VBMS, a 50/50 VolkerWessels – Boskalis joint venture carries out offshore cable installation.
