Trading profit for the quarter was £159m, compared with £114m last year.
Group revenue and gross profit were both up 2%, to £3.471bn and £93m respectively.
UK sales in the quarter fell 4% from last year’s £658m to £633m, although this was largely due to the disposal of Brandon Hire. On continuing operations, UK revenue was up 5%. Trading profit form the UK was up from £23m to £30m.
