The JV, ABC Electrification, won a £48m contract in January to carry out the third phase of the west coast power supply upgrade, part of a £300m investment by Network Rail. Work is expected to complete in 2016.
WSP’s UK rail project director Jim Fernand said: “With Network Rail’s electrification programme now taking shape this is a strategically important win for WSP. Our UK rail team will benefit from our global strength in power and electrification, in particular in Scandinavia.”
