First up is a new generation of its T Series Construction King tractor loader backhoes (TLB), including the top-of-the-range 695ST, and the C Series of crawler excavators.
Case’s solution is to use a combination of cooled exhaust gas recirculation (CEGR) and selective catalytic reduction (SCR) to achieve a 90% reduction in exhaust particulate matter (PM) and near zero levels of nitrous oxides (NOx). With the resources of the Fiat Group behind it, including Fiat Power Train (FPT), Case says that it has been able to meet coming legislation without sacrificing performance. In many cases customers will benefit from improved power outputs and reduced fuel consumption, the company says
Equipped with what Case says is the most powerful engine in the backhoe market, the T Series Case TLB range uses 10% less fuel than previous models. Despite that, the machines come with a 20% larger front bucket, now 1.2m3capacity, boosting loading performance.
A revised backhoe design, with overlapping boom cylinders and curved main boom, result in more compact transport dimensions. This gives a 30cm lower transport height, allowing it to be moved between sites more easily.
New C Series of crawler excavators include the 24.7t CX250C and the 36.7t CX370C, each powered by a Tier 4 Interim compliant engine with multiple injection, variable displacement turbocharging, dual or triple exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) and a diesel particulate diffuser.
Though offering the same power ratings as their predecessors, they are up to 10% more fuel efficient, Case says. C Series models have five energy saving systems that: automatically reduce engine revs during boom lower and slew operation; return to idle when the joysticks are not being used; reduce flow at the start of swing operations; automatically stop the engine after a preset idle time; and adjust hydraulic pressures in digging operations.

The C Series models also have a new hammer and high flow auxiliary hydraulic system and there is an improvedattachment design, offering faster operation speed and improved lifting performance.
Also new is the 821F, one of the first of the new F Series of wheeled loaders. This is powered by a 6.7 litre engine, again Tier 4 Interim compliant, that produces 227hp (168kW) of power. With a four-mode power control system, the operator can select output to match the task.
Customers can choose between a single servo lever and an optional two-lever hydraulic control system for high production operations. A new five-speed automatic transmission with torque lock-up ensures faster acceleration and higher travel speeds compared to the E Series, reducing fuel consumption and increasing productivity.
“This is the start of the most ambitious product replacement programme our industry has seen in many years,” says Henrik Starup, vice president of CNH Construction Equipment Europe.
“In 2011 we will update crawler excavators, introduce new wheel loaders, refresh our mini and midi excavator lines and come to market with a new generation of skid steer loaders. The following year these machines will be joined by further crawler excavator models, a new generation of wheel excavators, additional wheel loaders, new dozer lines, updated telescopic handlers and more.
“However our focus in all of these machine introductions remains very much on satisfying our customers’ requirements. We at Case are committed to this product renewal, offering increased productivity, improved fuel consumption, lower emissions and reduced cost of ownership for our customers.”
