Additional improvements are being added to the A12 part of the scheme, including embankment, drainage and fencing works as well as the renewal of road marking and studs.
The original work, which included replacing sections of safety barrier and resurfacing sections of the roads, started in November.
Highways England project manager, Homy Atife, said: “The original package of works has been progressing well and to schedule and we have identified an opportunity to add additional improvements on the A12 while our contractors are on site. This will help us deliver better value for money and reduce the impact on road users as we would have had to carry out these works at a later stage otherwise.”
