Approval for £40m Llandudno development

15 Feb 16 Conwy Council planning committee has approved plans for a £40m retail and leisure development at Llandudno Junction.

The development, on a council-owned site called the Old Brickworks, comprises a supermarket, apetrol station and four restaurants.

The planning application, lodged by Conygar Investment Company, was opposed by Legal & General because it owns a big Tesco store close by.

Conwy County Borough Council  resolved at its meeting on 10th February 2016 to grant outline permission for the superstore and restaurant development, including the demolition of the existing structures and preparatory earthworks for the site, a new access road from the A55, landscaping and infrastructure works.

The permission will be formally granted on the signing of a Section 106 agreement, the principles of which have already been agreed, the developer said.

Conygar chief executive Robert Ware said: “We look forward, in partnership with Conwy County Borough Council, to progressing this exciting development with the benefits it will bring in terms of employment and economic regeneration to Llandudno Junction and the county."
