BAM to build €40m base for 50 fire engines
Royal BAM Group’s German building company has been appointed to build a centre for fire and rescue services in Leverkusen, north of Cologne.
The €40m (£33.3m) public-private partnership contract has been commissioned by Madora and funded by LHI Leasing. BAM Immobilien-Dienstleistungen will also be responsible for the facilities management of the centre for a 25-year period.
BAM Deutschland will build the centre to a design by architect Gatermann + Schossig. The new building has an area of 15,000m2 and has room for 50 fire engines. It will provide office and living quarters for 130 employees and includes a control centre, training and fitness rooms and a workshop. Completion is due by the end of 2018.
