Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau will build the 2km double-track tunnel in the new Gateway Gardens development by Frankfurt Airport. The cut and cover tunnel is approximately 11m wide and 6m high. Client for the work is rail infrastructure manager DB Netz.
The 35ha Gateway Gardens development has offices, service areas, hotels, conference and exhibition spaces complete with leisure, restaurant and retail facilities around a central park.
The Gateway Gardens Tunnel will be operational at the end of 2019.
