Bournemouth Uni sets out £100m plans

26 Jan 16 Bournemouth University has published plans for £100m worth of construction work to develop new facilities.

Proposals include new facilities at its sites in both Bournemouth and Poole. Under the plans, the Talbot site in Poole will get a new four-storey, 5,600m2 building for the Media & Communication, Management, and Science & Technology faculties, as well as a new road layout. The existing Tolpuddle House building will be demolished.

The plans for the Lansdowne campus in Bournemouth would bring the Health & Social Sciences faculty under one roof in a new 10,000m2 building of between five and seven storeys high.

If approved, construction is scheduled to begin in 2017 for both sites with buildings opening in September 2019.

As part of the Lansdowne project, Three Sixty Developments is proposing to develop student accommodation with up to 550 beds on a separate site in Lansdowne Road at a cost of £37m.
