Bouygues teams up with WWF France

14 Jan 15 Bouygues Construction has signed a a three-year agreement to work in partnership with WWF France on developing sustainable cities.

The agreement is part of WWF’s ‘Reinventing the City’ initiative, which seeks to bring together businesses and local authorities in a quest to establish more sustainable urban lifestyles.

The partnership is intended to bring about international research on issues such as reducing energy and water consumption, improving transport management and integrating nature. It will work along similar lines to links already in place between WWF France and the Lyon Confluence eco-neighbourhood. The aim of the new partnership is to develop demonstrators of sustainable neighbourhoods in France and to communicate a vision of sustainable cities around the world. WWF and Bouygues Construction will pool their efforts and research findings on new urban lifestyles, including energy conservation and efficient management of water and waste.

Bouygues Construction is also renewing its membership of WWF’s Global Forest & Trade Network, which aims to eliminate illegal logging and to improve the management of forests.

Lyon Confluence (below) is the first WWF sustainable neighbourhood in France and follows an agreeement signed in 2010 between Greater Lyon and WWF. One of the most ambitious principles is a zero carbon target.
