Brookfield Multiplex tops out Melbourne tower

19 Jan 16 Construction has now reached the top of a 47-level tower being built by Brookfield Multiplex in Melbourne, Australia.

Central Equity’s AU$120m (£58m) residential tower Melbourne One stands some 149m above ground level and has so far generated 1,000 jobs and used some 1,700m3 of concrete.

Melbourne One will contrain 477 apartments in one-, two- and three-bedroom configurations with several penthouses. Resident facilities include a gymnasium and indoor heated swimming pool. It is located close to the Melbourne central business district (CBD), Etihad Stadium and Southbank and features a sleek design with extensive use of glass on the facade. Complexities include the restoration of heritage buildings and the challenges associated with building within the busy CBD.

"This marks another milestone in our ongoing collaborative relationship with Central Equity and we are proud to partner with them to deliver another tower in the city," said Graham Cottam, Regional managing director Victoria at Brookfield Multiplex.

Brookfield Multiplex has also just begun construction on a new project for Central Equity known as Southbank Central, 48-level apartment tower costing comprising 485 units.

Construction works on Melbourne One are scheduled to complete in July, 2016.
