The contract for California’s transport department, Caltrans, covers a 50km stretch of the highway between the cities of Coachella and Desert Center in the southern California desert.
Over 1.3 million square metres of roadway will be cold milled and replaced with 576,000t of conventional hot-mix asphalt and 170,000t of rubber hot-mix asphalt.
Construction will begin in May and be completed in late 2017.
