8 Dec 16 Engcon’s QSC locking system that standardises the locking operation of excavator buckets has been certified and is approved by Sweden’s SP Technical Research Institute.

QSC was developed by Microprop, part of the Engcon Group. It standardises the locking of the excavator bucket or other attachment, regardless of the excavator model or type of quick release. Previously, the locking system depended on the make of excavator and quick release, increasing the risk of handling errors.

The SP certificate awarded to the Engcon QSC safety locking system consists of performance level (PL) certification to the safety standard EN ISO 13849-1: 2016 and EC approval. QSC is the first locking system to attain this kind of third-party approval, Engcon says.

”We are very proud of this unique certification,” said Microprop business development & product manager Roberth Jonsson. ”It feels great that a company, which began in a small town in Sweden, can grow to create unique innovations and demonstrate outstanding results throughout Europe. This certification proves that, once again, we are good at what we do.”

Johan Hedberg, head of the automation group at SP Electronics, added: “SP certification of the Engcon QSC demonstrates the importance of having people within your company who are genuinely interested in the development of safety-critical control systems.”
