Contractor wanted for £19m Belper scheme

Derbyshire County Council is tendering a £19m contract to redevelop a burnt-out former factory site in Belper into a new public library and health centre.

Derbyshire County Council is procuring a constructor of new integrated facilities on Derwent Street in Belper.

The old Thorntons factory site has been derelict since a fire destroyed the buildings in 2013. It is currently partially demolished and cleared of the newer factory buildings only.

The county council is looking to build a new 24-bed care home to replace the existing one in Belper and a new library. Construction of a health and care facility will constitute phase two of the development.
