Henri Coanda is Romania’s largest airport, serving 67 external and nine domestic destinations. The strategic airport infrastructure development programme (PSDIA) aims to improve the quality of airport services across the board, with the goal of achieving International Air Transport Association (IATA) “optimum” level.

Egis will provide updated analysis and formulate a strategy for financing and implementation of the actions proposed under the PSDIA. This will involve producing passenger and cargo traffic forecasts and airport capacity planning as well as drawing up operational and commercial plans.

A key element will be a detailed analysis of the financing sources and planning needed to achieve the project goals.

James Hanson, general manager for Egis in Romania, commented: “We will be drawing on many years of aviation expertise both globally and in this region to achieve the objectives of the contract.

“Having previously led Egis aviation teams based in Great Britain and worked in this field in Romania, I believe that this strategic consultancy is a natural step for Egis,” he added.

Sophy Fayaud, Egis’ business development director for European airports, said: “Our local team in Romania will work alongside Egis aviation specialists to provide an independent study of airport capacity planning and updated project cost estimates with a clear view of the operational stages. This work will enable Bucharest Airports National Company to continue project fundraising for the proposed infrastructure development schemes.”
