Elephant & Castle takes Lend Lease to top of 2014 league table

8 Jan 15 Lend Lease topped the Builders’ Conference BC Live contract league table for 2014 ahead of Balfour Beatty and Kier.

The BCLive league recorded 9,425 individual contracts from almost 2,000 individual contractors in 2014 with a combined value of £45.7 billion. Those figures represented a 28% increase in the number of projects signed in 2013 and a 43% increase in the value of those projects.

Nine contractors signed more than £1bn-worth of  new construction work during 2014, according to Builders’ Conference data.

Top of the shop was Lend Lease, with £2.87bn, spearheaded by its £1.5bn mixed use development at London’s Elephant & Castle.

Second was Balfour Beatty, with £1.84bn from an aggregate of 136 contracts, compared to just 29 contracts for Lend Lease. Third was Kier with £1.57bn from 183 contracts.

The contractor with the highest number of contracts signed in 2014 was Morgan Sindall with 234, which roughly equates to one new contract every single working day. Total value of Morgan Sindall’s new work was £1.44m, putting it in fifth place for the year.
