This is the first time Fairfax has set up away from its base in Hemingbrough near Selby but the plan is that more will follow and a network will develop in time.

Leeds depot manager Claire Craven said: “I am excited by the challenge which Fairfax have given me and pleased that the depot has finally opened. My team and I will work our socks off to make sure that we give our customers, old and new, the same fantastic service which Fairfax have traditionally given in North Yorkshire and East Riding.”

Fairfax development director Mark Love, who has been the main driving force behind the new depot, added:  “We are now running a hire fleet in excess of 750 machines and are already planning for the next three years. Leeds was the obvious location for our first depot away from our Hemingbrough base as it gives us better access to the busy West Yorkshire area and will enable Fairfax to further develop in the northwest. I am delighted with the work Claire has done so far and am confident she and her team will make our Leeds depot a great success.”
