The Select Plant operator features in the BBC's Megacities documentary series. The three-minute section in which he stars can be seen on the BBC website.
The presenter Andrew Marr climbs up the crane to talk to Mr Young and admire the view. Mr Marr describes the crane operators as "the unsung heroes of the skyscraper world”.
Mr Young tells him: “You can never tire of the view, especially at the night time when the lights come on,”
The operator reveals that the crane will eventually get to twice its current height, as the building grows by three storeys a week to its final height of 310m.
He explains how the crane is jumped to stay ahead of the building.
“The most dangerous job you can undertake in construction is the jumping of a tower crane,” Mr Young says.
