Giant red dragon arrives at Legoland Dubai

2 Feb 16 A dragon weighing more than half a tonne is the first model to have arrived at Legoland Dubai, which is set to open in October.

It is one of the largest of some 15,000 models that will be arriving at park, which is part of the Dubai Parks & Resorts development..

The 4m-long Red Dragon, which is made from 230,000 Lego bricks, will guard treasure as part of a rollercoaster ride.

The dragon’s glowing eyes will animated, its head will move and its mouth will open and close – smoke will, of course, billow out.

“We are particularly thrilled to be announcing the arrival of the iconic Red Dragon model – not only because this is a significant milestone for Legoland Dubai, but also because this is one of the biggest and most animated models in the Park,” said Siegfried Boerst, general manager of Legoland Dubai.

The Red Dragon model will be the largest in the Lego Kingdom area, home to the castle and other attractions. It is the first of 15,000 Lego models made from 60 million Lego bricks that will be found throughout six themed areas, along with more than 40 rides, shows and attractions.

As well as Legoland Dubai and Legoland Water Park, Dubai Parks & Resorts will also feature a theme park showcasing characters from DreamWorks Animation, Sony Pictures Studios and Lionsgate. Dubai Parks & Resorts will also feature Bollywood Parks Dubai, the first-ever theme park based on the sights and sounds of Bollywood.
