Isolux Corsan wins Indian rail electrification projects

17 Feb 17 Isolux Corsan has been awarded work to electrify two sections of the main rail route connecting the cities of Mumbai and Chennai in southern India.

The contracts have a budget of €45m (£37m) and have an execution period of three years.

The first section, which has a length of 160km, is located in the state of Maharashtra and connects the cities of Bhigwan and Solapur. The 113km second section connects Solapur (in Maharashtra) and Gulbarga (in Karnataka).

The scope of the work includes the design, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of 25kV, 50Hz single-phase traction overhead equipment, switching stations and other associated works. Signalling and telecoms and the civil engineering works needed for the electrification are also included.
