Jaw crusher boosts production for Sunderland aggregates firm
A northeast aggregates supplier reports a big increase in productivity after investing in new machinery.
Sunderland-based Grab & Deliver took delivery of a compact tracked primary jaw crusher last month and it has since processed 5,000 tonnes of aggregate in a week.
The Terex Finlay J-1170AS jaw crusher, supplied by Finlay Plant Northern, has been brought in to work alongside a Terex Finlay 883 screener.
Material brought to the site is being fed into the screener to produce top soil and an oversize aggregate. The Terex Finlay J-1170AS is then fed with the oversize material to produce 45mm down aggregate for use in roads and footpaths – at a production rate of 700 tonnes a day.
Grab & Deliver director Peter Barrass said: “The new plant has completely proved itself and production levels have been excellent. You just press a button and it starts automatically, it’s so simple to use and all parts are easily accessible. It takes up very little room on site and, thanks to the remote control, we can easily move it about – something we’ve never been able to do with a crusher before.”
