Lagan wins £8.2m US airport contact

10 Mar 14 Lagan Construction has won three new airport contracts, including one worth £8.2m at Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota.

The other two are a £3.7m resurfacing contract on the Isles of Scilly and the £4m construction of a new hangar at Bristol Airport.

Lagan’s work at the Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota will consist of placing 45,000t of graded aggregate base course and 35,000t of polymer modified asphaltic concrete. Work is programmed to last four months with an expected start date in May.

The St Mary’s runway resurfacing contract on the Isles of Scilly includes the upgrading of airfield ground lighting, drainage and apron reconstruction. The contract is due to commence in this month or next with an expected six month duration.

In Bristol, Lagan Construction is undertaking a £4m contract which involves the construction of a 65,000 sq ft portal frame hangar.  Works will also include a comprehensive mechanical, electrical and plumbing fit-out; and internal fit-out including offices. Externally, the work will include new hard-standings, landscaping and the realignment of the existing runway.
