The investment includes the purchase of 27 new Caterpillar machines - 20 excavators, six 730C articulated dump trucks and a D6N bulldozer. Danaher & Walsh had operated bulldozers up until the early 1990s; the purchase of the new Caterpillar D6N dozer represents a return to this area of hire.

The six 730C2 dump trucks represent a significant expansion of Danaher & Walsh’s dump truck fleet, which was introduced last year. The seven 320F and thirteen 313F hydraulic excavators purchased feature the latest generation of fuel saving and emission reducing technology.

Purchases from Volvo include an EC380E 40t excavator and two ECR145E zero-tail-swing excavators. Both machines represent further new product categories for Danaher & Walsh.

Danaher & Walsh managing director Dan Danaher said: “Customers value the fact that as well as offering choice, we operate a new fleet of machines from some of the industry’s best known manufacturers. By investing in the latest technology, we’re able to significantly contribute towards meeting our target to reduce overall carbon emissions.”

Business development manager Emma-Jane Sutton added: “We are aiming to be a one-stop shop for all construction plant hire requirements. These latest additions to the fleet will help us to serve the needs both new and existing customers.”
