Richard Vining joins Lovell from Metropolitan Housing Trust where he was group executive director of development for the past couple of years. Previously he was chief executive of Shepherd Construction from 2009 to 2012 and of Lorne Stewart for a year before that.

He spent five years as a director at Lend Lease between 2003 and 2008, where he created the company’s £500m turnover housing and accommodation division, led collaborative partnerships with the MoD and spearheaded the development of off-site manufactured homes, constructing 7,500 units in four years.

Most of his earlier career in the 1980s and ’90s  was with HBG Construction.

As part of the boardroom shuffle, John Leary – formerly national operations director – moves to the newly-created role of major projects director, leading the company’s delivery of large-scale housing projects in partnership with the Ministry of Defence (MoD). He heads the Lovell team working on a £200m scheme to develop 900 homes on Salisbury Plain for returning troops, for which Lovell has been appointed preferred bidder by the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO).

Mr Leary previously led Lovell’s fast-tracked delivery of 346 homes for soldiers and their families at MoD Stafford, which was completed in a little over a year.

Lovell managing director Jonathan Goring said: “I am extremely pleased to have secured someone of Richard’s high calibre to join our board as we continue to capitalise on the significant opportunities for the business now presenting themselves across the UK. His range of skills and wealth of construction and housing achievements – including extensive experience in developing off-site construction solutions and in the formation of market-leading partnerships with major public sector clients – make him a fantastic addition to our senior team.”
