Lovell to refurbish more Aberdeen tower blocks

26 Feb 14 Aberdeen City Council has handed refurbishment specialist Lovell a £6.8m contract to refurbish four blocks of flats.

The tower blocks are in the Cairncry area of Aberdeen: Cairncry Court and Rosehill Court, each 16-storeys high, and 17-storey high Cornhill Court and Stockethill Court.

The four towers, which together contain 388 flats, will get new rainscreen over-cladding to keep rain out and improve insulation. Lovell will also carry out concrete repairs, replacement of some windows and louvres, re-rendering of the lift motor rooms and some work to ventilation systems. Residents will remain in their homes during the work, which starts this spring.

The contract is scheduled to take a year to complete.

“These works will make these ‘hard-to-heat’ homes more energy-efficient, reducing the impact of fuel poverty on residents,” said Lovell regional director Alan Taylor.

Lovell has just finished work on three similar multi-storey refurbishment schemes for Aberdeen City Council in the Balnagask area - Grampian Court, Brimmond Court and Morven Court.
