Morgan Sindall wins £6 million education scheme in Essex
Construction and infrastructure company Morgan Sindall has secured a contract with Essex County Council to build a vocational college in the county.
Canvey Skills Campus will offer a range of vocational courses for 14 to 19-year-olds, and evening classes to adults.
The scheme will involve constructing a two-storey 2,500m² building on the former Castle View School site in Canvey.
The state-of-the-art campus will accommodate 348 students and boast specialist workshop areas.
Work on site will start in November 2011 and is due for completion in December 2012.
Gavin Napper, area director at Morgan Sindall, says: “Essex County Council has worked very hard to get Canvey Skills Campus off the ground. Its purpose is to create a platform for economic sustainability, generate local jobs and give Canvey’s workforce the resources to further develop their skills. We are clearly delighted to have been appointed to this strategically important scheme.
“As a business, Morgan Sindall has done a great deal of work across the further education sector and our team understands how to work in this environment and the importance of partnering and collaborative working.”
