Mott MacDonald to engineer Shanghai tower

19 Feb 15 Mott MacDonald has won a contract to provide engineering, procurement and construction management services for the CNY850m (£88.5m) Shanghai Foxconn Plaza in China.

The project for for Foxconn (Shanghai) is for a 50,000m2 plaza is located in the financial centre of Shanghai by the Huang Pu River. The building will be the headquarters of Hong Hai Technology Group and will have 21 storeys and four annex levels, as well as a 32,000m2 basement made up of four floors. There will also be parking spaces for 500 vehicles.

Sam Hung, Mott MacDonald’s project director, said: “The Shanghai Foxconn Plaza is targeting both LEED platinum medal and national two-star green building certificates. The design includes sustainable features such as a double curtain wall façade, rainwater harvesting, LED lighting, solar panels and geothermal heat exchange.”

Construction is due to be completed by the end of 2017.
