Motts buys energy consultant
Mott MacDonald has bought engineering and design consultancy Wideurope Engineering, which is based in Italy and the UAE.
The acquisition is designed to enhance the company’s offering, services and capability in the energy sector and provide access to new markets.
Wideurope Engineering was established in 2002 and employs more than 50 people across its offices in Dubai and Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates and Genoa, Italy. The company operates primarily in the energy sector providing technical support and professional services in civil, structural and electro-mechanical design. Its portfolio features power and desalination plants in the Gulf Cooperation Council area and south-west Asia, combined-cycle power plants in Italy and north Africa and a range of projects in South America and south-east Asia.
Mott MacDonald chairman Keith Howells said: “Wideurope Engineering has an outstanding reputation with clients and equipment manufacturers all over the world. We’ve worked closely together for many years so we understand each other’s strengths and where we can draw on each other’s expertise to best support our clients. Coming together is the next natural progression in our relationship.”
He added: “Adding a base in Genoa will give us access to high quality engineering skills in Italy, while the strong client relationships Wideurope has built will offer new scope to work closely in the global energy sector. We’re excited about exploring wider international opportunities together.”
Wideurope Engineering general manager Giorgio Fugazzi said: “This is great news for our clients who’ll benefit from the strong bond of trust between our companies and direct access to an enormous wealth of talent, insight and information. Joining Mott MacDonald also provides great opportunities for our staff who’ll be able to collaborate and share their experiences with new colleagues, while developing skills in new sectors and working on a more diverse range of projects.”
