“The New International Airport for Mexico City will be the gateway to Latin America, competing with the best airports in Asia, the Middle East and around the world,” said CH2M Hill’s transportation president Terry Ruhl.

Foster & Partners, Fernando Romero Enterprise and Netherlands Airport Consultants won an international competition last year to design the new international airport. The first phase will have three runways and will be able to handle simultaneous operations with a capacity of 50 million passengers a year. Subsequent phases will add three more runways and will ultimately handle 120 million annual passengers.

“Parsons and its team is honored to have been selected to support the Ministry of Communications & Transport and the country of Mexico in bringing to fruition a programme that will create a world-class airport that serves as Mexico’s gateway to the world—and dramatically improves the current limitations for travel as well as promotes economic growth and job creation,” said Parsons Group president Todd Wager.
