Salini signs €607m Italian rail deal

13 Jan 15 A consortium headed by Salini Impregilo has reached a €607m (£474m) funding agreement for the third package of an Italian high-speed rail line.

The agreement for the third lot of the Terzo Valico Genoa to Alessandria line was signed by RFI and the COCIV consortium, which is general contractor for the design and construction of the project.

Salini Impregilo heads the COCIV consortium, with a 64% stake. The other team members are Società Italiana Condotte d’Acqua with 31% and CIV with 5%.

Work will begin on 30 June and covers the continuation of the Valico tunnel – which began as part of the second lot -  and the entire Serravalle tunnel.

The total value of the overall line is €6.2bn - broken down into six construction lots – and it will be  53km long, including 37km in tunnels. The route is part of the Rhine – Alpine corridor.
