Scape awards third of five Empa framework deals

22 Jan 14 Wates Construction and Morgan Sindall have been chosen to share a £133m framework deal in the East Midlands.

It is the third East Midlands Property Alliance (Empa) framework to be let by local authority purchasing consortium Scape this month and there are two more still to come.

The aim of Empa is to improve the procurement and delivery of construction projects and property maintenance for local authorities, saving time and money.

Already this month, as previously reported, Wates has been awarded the Empa provincial framework, worth £133m; and GF Tomlinson and Jeakins Weir have been chosen for intermediate contracts valued between £50,000 and £2m, a deal set to be worth £100m between them.

The latest contract, which runs for four years from January 2014, is for Empa’s intermediate framework for contracts valued between £2m and £7.5m.

Wates will cover the northern area of the region, including Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire.  This share of the contract has a total value of £88m.

Morgan Sindall will cover the southern area of the region, including Northamptonshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, as well as Warwickshire and Peterborough, which also form part of the framework.  This share of the contract has a total value of £45m.

“Our position on the intermediate framework, alongside our newly appointed role as sole contractor for the Empa provincial framework, will see us continue to work with Scape to fulfil our shared vision of providing value for money whilst contributing to local economic growth.”

“This success affirms our ability to consistently deliver quality schemes while working closely with local communities, subcontractors and suppliers and we look forward to continuing to work closely with our public sector clients and our partners at Scape.”
