Record high for Scottish confidence

30 Mar 15 Latest quarterly survey of Scottish builders has produced a record high confidence rating of +29, up three points on the rating recorded at the end of 2014.

The latest Scottish Construction Monitor, published by the Scottish Building Federation (SBF) shows that industry confidence has now been rated positive for seven consecutive quarters since the second quarter of 2013.

The percentage of respondents who are more confident about their prospects for the next 12 months compared to the past year has risen from 55.8% last quarter to 60% this quarter.

The percentage of respondents less confident about their firm’s future prospects has also risen marginally from 9.6% in Q4 2014 to 11.7% this quarter.

There were 62 Scottish construction firms who completed the survey online or by post between 25th February and 23rd March 2015.

SBF managing director Vaughan Hart said: “It’s good to see confidence within the Scottish construction industry up once again for the first three months of 2015. We continue to monitor the industry’s performance carefully since certain sectors of the industry still offer significant scope for improvement over the coming months. In order to be sustainable, it’s important that the industry’s recovery is suitably balanced across all sectors.”
