Strukton wins substation commission for Dutch tram line

27 Aug 14 Regiotram Utrecht has awarded Strukton Systems a €5.5m (£4.4m) contract to renovate four substations and construct a new one for the Utrecht, Nieuwegein and IJsselstein rapid transit line in the Netherlands.

The contract covers the design, construction, installation and testing of a new substation and the adaptation, installation and testing of the new systems in the existing substations.

Work will start next month, and the scheduled acceptance date is 1 October 2015.

The contract was awarded on the basis of the most economically advantageous tender criterion, in which Strukton achieved the highest score. Submitted price was not the only factor in the contract award; the adopted approach was also taken into account.

The high-speed tram line is part of a rapid transport network that connects the various areas in and around the city of Utrecht.
