Power tool manufacturer Stihl has joined with contractor Skanska and Cskills Awards, the awarding organisation of the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), to develop a new training programme.

Cskills Awards will offer a half-day training programme for operatives, which will be available from June 2014 and can be booked through Cskills Awards direct.

There is also an eight-module training video to support the training, with content accessed via various media channels including YouTube.

Network Rail has been among the first organisations to express interest. Steven Fink, head of health & safety on the Thameslink programme, said: “After a significant accident resulting in very serious injuries, it is encouraging to see manufacturers and suppliers working pro-actively together to really make a difference to the health, safety and wellbeing of our workforce.”
