12 Apr 12 Unic Cranes Europe has introduced an addition to its range of compact cranes, the Unic URW-1006.

With a maximum rated capacity of 10t, it is the largest spider-type crane on the market. Official launch is at the Intermat exhibition in Paris next week.

At only 2m wide, the crane remains compact enough for working in restricted spaces. The six-section hydraulically telescoping boom of the URW-1006 offers a 30.7m lifting height and 24.3m working radius. A fully luffing fly jib is also available as an option.

Unic suggests that likely applications are glass installation and steel erection work. Unlike other Unic spider cranes, this model also has pick and carry capability for loads up to 1.5t.

The crane retains many features of other Unic models, including a user-friendly radio remote control, working area limitation and the ability to be disassembled and reassembled easily so it can be lifted to more awkward lifting locations.  New features include safety interlocks on the outriggers and a Wylie i4500 safe load indicator.

A promotional video of the new crane is below.
