OFT sets out reasons behind its £129.2m of fines

The Office of Fair Trading has published a full breakdown of the reasons behind its £129.2 million of fines handed out to 103 construction firms following its investigation in cover pricing.

The 1,945 page document sets out the legal framework against which each of the infringements was considered by the OFT.

It then assesses the conduct of the accused contractors and then includes a section where it sets out the OFT’s conclusions together with representations from the contractors.

OFT Bid-rigging: The full list of companies & fines

The table below lists the 103 construction companies fined by the OFT, and sets out the fines imposed, after all discounts including for leniency.

Note that some fines apply to two or more companies that formed part of the same infringing undertaking. In those circumstances, all named companies will in general be jointly and severally liable for the full amount of the penalty but where this is not the case, the division of liability is set out under the total penalty.
