Senior Quantity Surveyor

Job Description

Company Overview: our Client is a leading construction company dedicated to delivering high-quality projects across various sectors. They are seeking a talented Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team and contribute to the successful delivery of our projects.

Position Overview: We are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor with extensive experience in commercial Projects, particularly in new build schools projects. The ideal candidate will have a background working with tier one contractors and a proven track record of managing all aspects of quantity surveying for large-scale projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all quantity surveying activities for new build schools projects from inception to completion.
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates and budgets for projects, ensuring they align with client requirements and company objectives.
  • Procure subcontractor packages and negotiate contracts to achieve the best value for the company.
  • Monitor project costs, identify variations, and manage change control processes effectively.
  • Provide commercial advice and support to the project team, including identifying opportunities for cost savings and value engineering.
  • Prepare and submit accurate and timely valuations and financial reports to clients and stakeholders.
  • Manage subcontractor payments, including assessing and certifying interim and final accounts.
  • Collaborate with the project team to resolve commercial and contractual issues in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, company policies, and relevant industry standards.
  • Mentor and support junior quantity surveyors, providing guidance and training as needed.
  • Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Chartered status with a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS) is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in quantity surveying, with a focus on new build schools projects.
  • Proven track record of working with tier one contractors on large-scale construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement methods, and cost management principles.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using industry-standard quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, Buildsoft) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
