Conservation Architect Job in Oxford, Oxfordshire

Senior Architect job available, with an AJ100 practice in Oxford. Join a dedicated team focusing on conservation and heritage projects across all RIBA stages. This position comes with various perks and the flexibility of hybrid work arrangements!

Over the years, they have solidified their position as a leader in planning advice, heritage consultancy, building surveying, conservation, and contemporary architecture.

Collaborating with diverse stakeholders including public bodies, charities, trusts, private firms, contractors, developers, and individuals, this firm has played a pivotal role in preserving and enhancing cherished buildings and sites both in the UK and internationally. Their portfolio includes sensitive restoration and repair projects as well as innovative designs within historic settings. Their bold and contemporary designs span various sectors such as cultural, master planning, education, ecclesiastical, public, hospitality, residential, and more.

With their ongoing success, they are currently in search of a Conservation Architect to join their team.

Role & Responsibilities

  • To lead and run conservation projects of various scales within a mixture of sectors in public and private sectors
  • Work with project leads on the day-to-day running of projects across all RIBA stages
  • Manage teams of sub-consultants and work closely with clients to support them through all stages of projects
  • Support clients throughout project stages to build strong relationships
  • Manage projects during construction, working with contractors if needed
  • Contribute to business growth through networking and tender participation
  • Handle project finances and invoicing, with training if necessary
  • Strengthen conservation expertise within the team, grow professionally, and mentor junior colleagues.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Essential experience in Buildings Conservation, with demonstrated technical proficiency in conducting condition surveys and specifying repair works
  • Part 3 qualification with over 3 years of post-qualification experience in a UK-based practice
  • AABC/RIBA SCA accreditation or equivalent experience, with a willingness to pursue accreditation
  • Philosophical comprehension of building conservation and a passion for building history
  • Strong design and drawing skills, with expertise in technical detailing
  • Proven track record in project management, with effective client communication abilities
  • Experience working at RIBA stages 4 & 5
  • Thorough understanding of UK Building and Planning regulations
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication capabilities
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and NBS
  • Desirable experience in BIM Conservation, although not essential.
