British Softwood Sawmilling company, ADAM WILSON & SONS LTD has had its roots in Ayrshire, Scotland since the companys founder Adam Wilson started his first sawmill in 1856.

Five generations on, and under the guidance of Hamish Wilson, the company leads the way at the cutting edge of sawmill technology. Producing softwood timber from its computer controlled sawmill in Troon, Ayrshire.

ADAM WILSON's was formed with the purpose of selling timber into the Mining and Iron Smelting industries that were growing in the 1850's. As late as the 1980's Wilson's were still supplying the mining industry from mills in Ayrshire and Argyll.

As the industrial and social climate changed so did ADAM WILSON's. Massive investment of the Troon site took place in the 1990's to build and develop one of the most technologically advanced mills not only in the UK but in Europe. To date, almost Â£16 million pounds has been spent on continual investment in the latest sawmilling, drying, machining and treatment equipment. The timber produced is for orders to the Constructional, Fencing and Pallet & Packaging markets throughout the UK.

With increasing production in excess of 140,000 cubic metres of sawn softwood per annum, the Troon sawmill has probably the largest single mill production in the country.
