Bennetts Cranes secures first Liebherr 620 HC-L

8 Apr Bennetts Cranes, specialists in high-capacity tower crane hire, has confirmed the purchase of three Liebherr 620 HC-L cranes, securing the first units of this model anywhere in the World.

The agreement, signed at Bauma this week, marks a significant investment in expanding Bennetts’ capability to provide heavy lifting solutions that also offer the agility needed for operating in restricted spaces.

The Liebherr 620 HC-L is the only crane in its class to combine high-capacity lifting – up to 36 tonnes in two-fall operation – with a short out-of-service radius of just 12 metres. This makes it possible to position the crane closer to buildings and other structures, increasing efficiency while reducing the risk of oversailing and lifting over adjacent streets or properties. The crane also features a minimum working radius of just 4 metres, allowing loads to be picked up and placed with precision, even in the tightest city centre sites.

Bennetts’ investment reflects a commitment to cranes that are not only powerful but also more environmentally-friendly, efficient to install and operate, and safer for everyone on site. The 620 HC-L can measure the power available and reduce its speed where necessary. This means it can often use mains power when other similar-sized luffer cranes would require a generator. This saves on generator and fuel costs and is a more environmentally and economically friendly solution. Additional efficiency features include a pin-tower system for faster, more reliable assembly, pre-installed rope reeving for quicker setup, and level-luffing functionality to maintain horizontal load movement without the need for manual height adjustments. The crane’s Micromove function enables precise load positioning, making it particularly valuable for sensitive operations such as panel installation, where workers are in close proximity to loads.

Edward Seager, Managing Director of Bennetts, said: “We are focused on investing in cranes that deliver the lifting power our customers need while also adapting to the challenges of modern construction sites. The Liebherr 620 HC-L represents a step-change, offering the ability to handle large loads in locations where space is restricted. It also allows our customers to reduce their reliance on diesel generators, making lifting operations both more cost-effective and more sustainable.”

With the first Liebherr 620 HC-L now part of its fleet, Bennetts is taking enquiries from contractors looking for a crane that delivers heavy lifting performance while adapting to the challenges of confined sites.
