Rototilt Transforming the Way Operators Work

4 Mar Andy Lister from W&H Roads in Southend on Sea in Essex needed some convincing about the merits of investing in a tiltrotator, but since acquiring a Rototilt R6 from dealers Attachments Solutions Ltd the impact it has had on his civil engineering business has been quite remarkable.

Thoroughly impressed with the Rototilt tiltrotator that has been fitted to his Kobelco SK230 zero tail swing excavator, the company director who also spends a lot of time in the cab of the excavator himself says it has completely changed the way he works, with the benefits far outweighing the initial costs. It has enabled him to work with greater efficiency, agility and precision than ever before.

Established over 50 years ago as an independent family run business, W&H Roads is one of Essex’s leading civil engineering and groundworks companies, with a list of high-profile clients on its books. Andy only decided on opting for the Rototilt R6 after an in-depth chat with Attachments Solutions Director Nigel Clarke.

Working on deep excavations, roads and drainage projects, Andy is finding the Kobelco excavator has been totally transformed with the addition of the Rototilt and is now able to undertake work that would have been a challenge with a conventional digger, with a notable increase in productivity and efficiency.

The advantages of oil over grease are numerous, including continuous lubrication, better heat dissipation, a much longer service life, particle removal, fewer lubrication points and cleaner components, the latter simplifying maintenance. “That serviceability is a unique selling point,” adds Nigel. “After the initial 500 hrs we only service the unit every 1000 hrs. Its’s that simple”.

Meanwhile, with QuickChange you can change hydraulic tools automatically without leaving the cab. When you work with QuickChange in both the attachment frame at the top and the quick coupler at the bottom, you can disconnect and connect the tiltrotator or switch between different hydraulic tools quickly, easily and safely, depending on which task you have in front of you. QuickChange is part of the Open-S program giving customer a greater flexibility. The standard allows the use of various attachments from different sources therefore maximising the customer investment and productivity.

Operating on the Essex/Suffolk border serving Attachment Solutions was formed in 2010 with the aim of providing sales and service for a range of high quality hydraulic breakers and screening buckets for the construction and demolition industry, and over the years the company has quickly grown, adding forestry and landscaping attachments to its product portfolio, taking on the Rototilt brand just over a year ago, a decision they haven’t regretted. “Rototilt, in my opinion, is the market leader,” he says. “Rototilt’s tiltrotators are robust and reliable thanks to their design which is both stronger and lighter than welded alternatives, and they are oil filled. A highly serviceable product”
