16 contractors sought for £160m West Wales frameworks

30 Nov 11 A consortium of West Wales public bodies is inviting contractors to bid for places on two frameworks worth £160m.

The consortium is headed by Carmarthenshire County Council, and includes organisations such as Mid & West Wales Fire and Rescue Services, Dyfed Powys Police, University of Wales Trinity St. David, Llanelli Rural Council, Coleg Sir Gar, Diocese of Minevia, Diocese of St Davids, Bro Myrddin Housing Association.

One framework covers residential-only construction work, and is worth £100m over four years.

The other covers non-residential work, and is valued at £60m, also over four years.

Eight contractors will be selected for each framework.

Both frameworks cover refurbishment and new build. Continuous improvement, collaboration and measurement by key performance indicators are likely to be features of the framework. The successful contractors will be expected to consider opportunities to recruit and train persons as part of the workforce delivering this project.

Interested contractors will need to complete and return a pre-qualification questionnaire by 10 January 2012.
