Lovell will tackle one of Scotland's biggest new-build council housing programmes, after winning a £45m contract from West Lothian Council.
The Morgan Sindall social housing subsidiary will design and build 545 council houses on a number of sites throughout the region.
In July, the Scottish Government announced plans to build more than 1,000 new council houses at a cost of £120m.
First Minister Alex Salmond said: "We are working in partnership with local government to provide a new generation of council housing. The Scottish Government's financial commitment to this scheme represents the first central government funding of new council houses in three decades.
"The funding for the extra 1,000 council houses alone will support around 1,200 jobs in the construction industry and some 700 more in related trades."
