Aecom to fix tornado damage

8 Nov 11 Aecom has been awarded a task order contract from the US Air Force Civil Engineer Support Agency (AFCESA) worth US$16.9m (£10.5m).

Under the task order, Aecom will provide design and build services at Little Rock Air Force Base. The tornado in April damaged seven buildings, requiriing repairs including structural metal roofing replacement, exterior finishes, interior renovations and mechanical and electrical repairs.

The buildings include a 14,000m2 aircraft hangar, logistics centre, fire crash station and several aircraft maintenance facilities. The work will take 18 months.

The task order was awarded under Aecom’s indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract with AFCESA to provide worldwide design-build and construction services. The contract, which was awarded during 2008 to multiple companies, has a ceiling of US$4bn with a basic ordering period of five years plus five one-year options. This is Aecom's eighth task order under the contract.
