Alan Calder memorial prize winner announced

9 Dec 10 The 2010 Alan Calder Memorial Prize, presented by Clark Contracts to the top final year student on the part time Quantity Surveying course at Glasgow Caledonian University, has been won by David Liguori.

David, 27, from Glasgow currently works as a quantity surveyor for a decorating company.

The Alan Calder Memorial Prize is awarded annually, at the end of each year.

It was established by Clark Contracts, where Alan Calder held a senior management position at the time of his passing, aged 58, in January 2008.

Commenting on the award David said, "I would like to thank Clark Contracts for presenting me with the Alan Calder Memorial Award for top part-time final year student.  I am very proud of this achievement, especially given the origins associated with the award. My success in winning the award was achieved along with the support, hard work, commitment and excellent delivery of modules from the staff at Glasgow Caledonian University."

Gordon Cunningham, Managing Director, Clark Contracts, said, "Congratulations to David for winning this prize.  Alan was a great mentor, colleague and friend to many of us here at Clark Contracts and we all miss his professionalism, enthusiasm and genuine concern for others. His personal commitment to the development of young people in the surveying profession was well respected throughout the industry and we believe this Memorial Prize is a fitting tribute to his memory."
